Yoga Class Descriptions
All level or 1-2– You can expect a well rounded practice. A student works at the level he is most comfortable with. Modifications will be offered to all.
Level I– Level I classes offer the opportunity for inquiry and exploration of the asana practice. The pacing will be slower so as to facilitate safety and allow the body to connect with breath and settle into the poses.
Level II– This class offers a student the opportunity to spread their wings and fly. Expect new sequencing, more inversions,more arm balances and a deeper connection to your breath and self. This will be more of a vinyasa style class with flowing movement.
Family Yoga– This class is a fun class for all levels and all ages to participate in. Expect to have fun and celebrate your unique family. One parent is required to attend, both welcome.
Gentle Yoga – We recommend this class for anyone with limited mobility or recovering from an injury. Gentle movement linked with the breath soothes the mind, body and soul.
Hatha Yoga – Hatha refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body—especially the main channel, the spine—so that energy can flow freely.
Intro to Yoga – This class is highly recommended for absolute beginners and those who have limited experience with yoga. Poses will be broken down so that practitioners may practice safely. Questions are encouraged as students are introduced to the basic forms and concepts. We offer this class periodically as a 3-week workshop so that lessons may be sequential.
Kids Yoga– Designed for children ages 4-10 we will tell stories and introduce children to yoga asana, pranayama, and meditation. All children of all abilities are welcome.
Lunch Break Flow – This beginner level Vinyasa is the perfect class for a hour-long lunch break to get you up and moving.
Restorative Yoga – This class uses a number of props to support the body in passive poses. The supported postures allow deep relaxation and a profound sense of peace and well-being. This is another excellent class for anyone with limited mobility or recovering from an injury.
Restorative Flow – Gentle yoga and restorative in an hour-long format. Leave this class relaxed and refreshed.
Slow Flow – A feel-good class that will open up the body by linking movements & the breath to gradually warm up the muscles, allowing you to release tension and leave feeling refreshed. Expect an emphasis on pranayama (breathwork) & finishing class with a nice long savasana. Gentle assists & Thai massage will be offered to help you relax & deepen your practice.
Vinyasa Yoga means a gradual progression or a step-by-step approach that systematically and appropriately takes a student from one point and safely lands them at the next point. It is sometimes described as the “breathing system,” or the union of breath and movement that make up the steps.

Yoga Sculpt – Yoga Sculpt is a modern form of yoga that combines Vinyasa Yoga, strength training, cardiovascular fitness and core work. This yoga class uses weights to strengthen the practice while helping tone and shape the body. Burn calories, build stamina, increase strength and flexibility and increase lean muscle mass.
Workshops– We will offer multiple workshops throughout the year. These workshops may build upon skills in certain areas or be a fun opportunity to spend time with the North Branch community of yogis. Please join us!
